Join us for a mystical evening to honour Samhain on the magical land of Happy River Retreat in Wareham Forest Dorset. Samhain is a time when the veils between this world and spirit world is said to be thinnest. It is the halfway point between Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice. A moment to celebrate all that has got us to this point and all that is yet to come as we delve deeper inwards with the darker days. 

We will open the ceremony with a heart warming cup of ceremonial cacao as we honour our ancestors and the unseen realms. A ceremony is a beautiful way to gather together with intention. It is about co-creating a sacred space to connect with ourselves, each other, mother earth and spirit. 

Josie will guide you on an otherworldly sound journey through crystalline vibration, melodic sounds and light language channeled through her voice. This will be a nourishing space for you to rest, release and receive the healing power of sound. Chris will ground you back into your body and the Earth with drumming, native flute and light language as we sit around the fire with the stars twinkling above us. We will close our evening in circle with the warmth of the fire in our hearts and the magic of nature all around us.

This will be a beautiful, love filled evening for us to gather in community to connect to this powerful moment of the year whilst immersed in the Forest, just as our ancestors did.

WHAT TO BRING/HOW TO PREPARE

Mat, Blanket, Pillows (The sound healing will take place in the barn which has underfloor heating so it will be warm, however, we advise you to create your own comfortable nest with your own cosy things. It is important for you to feel comfortable and warm so that you can fully surrender into the experience)

I advise you to bring an extra pillow or bolster to go underneath your knees for comfort during the sound healing as it will support your lower back when you are lying down

We will spend the final hour of ceremony outside by the fire so please wear warm clothing and bring your coat to ensure you are not cold

Bring water to stay hydrated throughout the ceremony

Bring snacks to eat as the ceremony closes as you may feel hungry as you integrate the sound/energy work and ceremonial cacao (Food can also help you to ground back)

Offerings - Please bring offerings for your ancestors. This could be flowers, crystals, leaves, food, fruit. Please note, you will be invited to add your items to the altar during the ceremony as an energetic offering to your ancestors, which you will take back at the end to give to the Earth as we close our ceremony

Please avoid eating at least 2 hours prior to the ceremony as it is most beneficial to drink ceremonial cacao once you have digested food. Do whatever feels right for you, however, we advise you to eat an early dinner in the late afternoon so you do not feel hungry or ungrounded during the ceremony.

Please avoid alcohol on the day of the ceremony

Please avoid caffeine for at least 4 hours prior to the ceremony

CACAO CONTRAINDICATIONS

We will be serving ceremonial cacao during the ceremony. Cacao is a gentle yet powerful plant medicine which truly speaks to the heart. The spirit of cacao is known as a feminine, motherly energy. On a physical level she nourishes the body with potent nutrients and minerals. On an emotional level her tenderness supports the potential for deep shifts to occur, allowing stagnant emotions to come to the surface and be released. On a spiritual level she creates a bridge between our world and the spirit world and ignites a deeper connection to ourselves on a soul level. On a mental level she facilitates connection, creativity and intuitive insights. Her medicine meets everyone who drinks in a unique way, depending on the needs at that moment. She is a wise teacher. A keeper of ancient, sacred wisdom. It is such a gift to sit in ceremony and honour her divine medicine.

Please note, ceremonial doses of Cacao are not recommended for any of the following cases. Please let us know if any are experiencing allowing of the following;

You are taking antidepressants (Cacao contains MAO inhibitors)

You have a serious heart condition

You have very high blood pressure

You suffer from epilepsy

You are pregnant (You should only have a small amount)

Please ensure you speak to your doctor if you are considering taking ceremonial doses of Cacao in any of the above cases

Please note, we will be serving a 20g dose for everyone as we have found this to be a wonderful dose which is not too activating but it still feels deeply healing, connective and expansive. Also, if you do not want to drink ceremonial cacao for any reason please just let us know as it is not essential. You can still connect with the spirit of cacao during the ceremony, whether you drink the medicine or not :)
